Music City Big Band
"Brotherhood of Man" - Music City Big Band
2020 has been a rough year for pretty much everyone. Especially those of us in the music industry, who have seen our gigs and basically our entire livelihood vanish in front of our eyes, leading to economic uncertainty for many that share our chosen profession and passion.
Additionally, 2020 has been a year of reckoning in terms of racial injustice, with the national attention and protests over the unjust killings of American citizens of color by police, the people who are supposed to be sworn to serve and protect the public.
As this year mercifully draws to a close, we at Music City Big Band wanted to do something to celebrate, despite our many differences and difficulties in understanding one another, the reality that we all share in the human condition. And to share our hope that one day, we can all look beyond our individual differences, and unite in the name of justice, TRUE justice, for ALL people. To finally live up to the ideals declared in the U.S. Declaration of Independence that "All men are created equal." And especially as we move into the holiday season, we truly want to celebrate "that great big club that all of us are in."
In that spirit, we present this song, originally arranged by the great Tony Klatka for the Woody Herman Band, and featuring trumpet soloists Casey Brefka and Emmanuel Echem, from the hit broadway musical "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" - Brotherhood of Man.
